The Walking Dead 8x12... is Rick beyond redemption?

This was the episode where nobody followed the plan. The resistance gathered in the Hilltop had scouts to inform in advance if Saviors where on their way, but as soon as Rick saw Negan he ignored Carl one more time and the plan, to kill Negan. But we all know at this point that Negan won't die so we just had the 3rd or 4th round of their mano a mano fight for entertainment purposes.

In the meantime, Maggie trusted an unkown person called Georgie (could she be Pamela from the Commonwealth?) and received food and the key to the possible world to come. Plans to rebuild the society, a new medieval era as the foundation for a future Renaissance if you will.

From the last few episodes we know that Simon is not in the same page as Negan anymore. First he advised Negan to move on, but now that the leader is missing he ordered the Saviors to wipe out the non believers (the remains of Hilltop, Alexandria and the Kingdom).

Finally, in a weird twist, Negan scaped from Rick but Jadis ended up kidnapping him

Rick keeps going through a dark path that not even Carl's death seems to be enough to prevent him. He is making all the wrong decisions, thinking that killing Negan would be the ultimate solution.
