HOW TO CHANGE OR FIX CORRUPT IMEI NUMBER ON MTK ANDROID DEVICES.

This is a tutorial I made from my experience, so it is 100% genuine.
If a bad NVRAM file is your case, then this is gonna work for you.
This process can also be used to modify IMEI number on MTK smartphones.
(please Note that alteration of IMEI is illegal in some regions, so I advise you do your research before you proceed).
I will be introducing a tool called METAMAUI. It is a handy tool when it come to modifying a smartphone's details)

(This process have been tested and confirmed working on INFINIX X556 and X557 devices, running on the lastest Android version, 7.0)

REQUIREMENTS.

• A WINDOWS P.C

• Maui Meta V9.1724.0.00

• MetaMaui is a familiar tool to geeks, but I don't expect noobs to experience any difficulty using it.*

• USB DEVIEW V2.71

• MIRACLE BOX DRIVERS

You may find some other procedures on the web, that requires a BGUI file, but this process can do without that.

Procedures.

step1: Unzip the the USBdeview programme and run it. you should see a list of recently installed USB drivers.
You have to uninstall them except the ones highlighted in the screenshot below.

step2: Unzip the Miracle-box driver installer if zipped. Then follow the screenshot below for installation guide.
The installer is a pack of multiple drivers but we dont need all of them.

• choose install miracle/eagle box driver, and proceed with the installation.

Return to the home menu.
The next option is the CoolSand drivers. Two options are presented when you push the CoolSand button. Choose the one that best fit your processor and get it done with.

Return to home again and click on DIFFERENT MTK DRIVERS.
install VCOM and MTK OTHER DRIVER, one after the other.

At this point you may reboot your p.c, let off some steam or grab a drink. Your call.

step3: Install the Meta Maui programme and Run as administrator. It should open to this interface.

(Note: some of the images here were borrowed because, this part involves putting off the phone. Since I had one phone available at the time, there was no way I could subject it to the tutorial and still take pictures with it.

Here we go.

• connect your usb cable to the p.c.

• at the upper right corner of the tool, locate RECONNECT and hit it.

• put off the affected Mtk device.
  The phone should boot to a loop called meta mode.

• connect the mtk device to the usb and wait for a few seconds.

The green ball should turn yellow and this pop-up displayed.

At the upper left corner of the layout.
Locate the drop down menu and choose GET VERSION.
The phone details will be displayed like this.!

Now you can minimize the pop-up layout. The motive is to be sure that your phone is properly connected.

*Locate the drop down menu at the upper left corner again. This time click on IMEI DOWNLOAD
This menu should pop up

Fill in the 14 digit of your imei (from the IMEI slot you wish to repair, or the one you wish to use as a replacement) in the column that reads IMEI
The 15th digit would automatically be produced by the next column.

• Click on the CHANGE NVRAM DATABASE FILE option. When that is done, click on Download to flash
  A successful message should appear below.

Now you may click on disconnect at the upper right corner to switch off the phone.
Then unplug your phone and reboot it.
