TUTORIAL - How to start making music part 2 - We choose DAW
In this episode we will focus on choosing a DAW program. I personally use two: Cockos Reaper and Steinberg Cubase.
Which program you choose depends on whether you are a beginner or an advanced user. And of course it also depends on the price.
The program could be called basic. But a lot can be done on it. Its biggest advantage is the fact that it does not take up much space both on the disk and in the computer's memory. Of course, it is not free. Depending on the license, it costs from 60 $ to 225 $.
Its basic advantages are:
Simplicity of use
low price
support for many VST plugins
stable operation
big opportunities
No program is perfect. Reaper also has disadvantages. Here they are:little popular (if any) in professional studies
built-in low quality plugins
lack of good VST instruments
no music notation
and many others.
Of course, for a typical home use it is ideal. I am very happy working on it and I will present examples on Reaper. Of course, it is also possible to download a full manual in Polish.
There are many tutorials on the use of this program on YT and the Internet.
This is probably one of the oldest DAWs on the market. It has a very intuitive interface. It is also a relatively light computer program (although it happened to me that when recording 12 tracks at once, the program was a little raging and large latency appeared)
His biggest advantages are:
easy to use
support for many VST plugins
a very large number of plugins in the program
latency compensation
e.t.c...
Its disadvantages are namely:complicated for very beginners
no Polish language
limited versions of LE
a little high price - about 600 Euro
The program is generally used in small studios. I recorded my songs with the Masakabra band with this program. On YT, as in the case of Reaper, there are a lot of tutorials and guides on how to use the program. It was quickly enough for me to learn his function.
In the next episode, I will describe two more DAWs for comparison, so that you have some more insight into the topic. If you liked my post - Upvote and Follow :)
