Frontend and Backend Technologies

in #tutorial5 years ago

Frontend and Backend Technologies are the cornerstones of hacking web applications. This video is theoretical and is going to be fully all about web applications. Here, I’m going to actually explain to you and explain everything as much as possible, as much skill because this theme is quite huge and I cannot go over everything just by one video. I’m going to explain everything I can as much as I can. So bear with me here. This is all about web application hacking.

I’m going to explain what’s web application? What’s a website? How they work, and how can we actually go and hack them on theoretical? Just theoretical, just some fundamentals. You’re going to see all that in future lectures in practical videos. We’re going to be demonstrating all the needed techniques and tools that we speak about here. You’re going to see them in action in future videos. So for now, just take nice seat and hope you enjoy.

So now first, let’s start by answering some fundamental questions. The first question is what is web application? So basically, the web application is something familiar with the website. We’re going to explain what the website is as well, but for now, just know that web application is just some software that runs from the browser. The web server, just supports that file, supports that software and when we access the port, the port 80 with the browser, or the port 443 or 8080.

We’re actually going to execute that functionality, that file store in themself. So this is like the web application or like a website, but with its own functionality on it. For example, file transactions, for example, like messages sharing or video sharing, posting messages, posting pictures, just a website with functionality is so-called web applications. So now, let’s actually explain what’s a website?
Well, basically the website is when different pages get hosted by the web server. So in the previous module, we were talking about web servers. You know that web servers are just hosting a bunch of files, a bunch of directories online, so anyone can access it. If you actually made the file called index.html, this is when the content get displayed instead of actually seeing the basal download. This is like the basics of website. This is our simplest website.

So for example, website are the pages with some HTML inside, with some functionality inside. It is divided by two part by front end and back end functionality. For example, that one we wrote in the previous video with one pick. It works was the typical example for front end functionality, but the website contains front end and back end functionality, and so on. Basically, the website are different pages who are hosted on the web server and so we can access and work with that pages.

Here, actually, browser understands that what we stored in that pages, and therefore browser executes in our machine that always see. So for example, if we type a typical HTML tag for big letter, or capital letters, and when the browser access the page and reads that HTML tags, it’s going to store and display some big letters or capital letters. That’s what it’s all doing. For example, the web server is posting the pages. The pages themselves are some HTML or TypeScript or JavaScript or any type, and when the browser get access to that machine, get access to that port, it reads all what it has on its pages.

It therefore understands it and display on our machine, on our window what he has understood. The websites are just that. It’s a bunch of pages with a bunch of code inside and a uploaded with some web server. So we mentioned before that we have two technology, we have front end technology, and we have a back end technology. Now we need to explain both of them since we are going to actually exploit them in future videos.
