RE: "It's Gotten Even Worse" James Damore Updates Tucker on Google
Decentralized social media is a great concept, but what I don't understand, and what no one has been able to explain to me is how it's sustainable. What I mean by that is who's paying for it. Cryptocurrency is fine but it still has to translate to fiat currencies, and it's going to be sometime before cryptocurrencies are widely accepted as payment.
Someone (yes I know multiple people) is running the servers, someone is paying money to run those servers, sooner or later those people running the servers are going to want to see payback on their investment.
How exactly are these people going to get paid for the servers that they're running?
that's the big question isn't it, we know there's a problem we just don't have a solution. the biggest problem i have with it all is that these big tech companies are literally shaping the culture of the next generation(s) and most people don't even realize it. So i guess at this moment in time we just have to hope the culture that's created isn't a bad one. it's scary when you start thinking about it all.
Thank you for replying. Yes indeed it is very scary. I knew I couldn't be the only one questioning the sustainability of decentralized social media.
