Old Saddle, color version and black & white for contest
I took the photo above and turned it into a black and white to enter the black and white photo challenge:travel this week. I love the color version and a friend wanted to see it so here it is for others too who would like to see it.

My photo is of a very, very old western saddle with wood and leather stirrups!
I took a photo of this marvelous, thrown to the side, outside in a heap, very old saddle sitting in an old wooden boat. The colors are awesome but of course, this is a black and white challenge. I found it in Tempe, Arizona in 2006 but unfortunately I can't recall what make of Camera I was using at the time which may disqualify me from competition. I submit it anyhow as I like the photo and riding horses was one of our very first modes of transportation!
The top of the photo, you can see the old, wooden horn the cowboy would have held or wrapped his rope around. The view is from the top of the saddle. On each side, 3/4 of the way down, you can see the ornate but cracked wooden stirrup holders and leather. I wish I knew the age of this beautiful piece, would have loved to snatch it but I'm no theif and it wasn't my property.

I never went horse riding in my life, but I do want to try in the future. I always wondered if those saddles are uncomfortable?
I am glad you did not snatch it. lol I would make a good story though. lol
I think everyone should experience a horseback ride at least once in their life! As a child, I loved horses but my parents wouldn't let me ride thinking I would get hurt. I finally got to ride as an adult on a trail ride and have to say, not as fun as I expected! Very bumpy, hurts my back and neck too much now....haha. I think if one would take lessons and learn to ride properly, it could be very fun and enjoyable!
Well, it is a bit dangerous to ride it as a kid, and like an adult. Falling down at some speed from a horse would not be fun at all. lol Especially for me since I am 1.99cm or 6 ft 7.
I am sure it is a great experience though. Like everything in life, it takes some practice to make it better. :)
You could probably step right over the horse!! Hahaha. Lots of adults get seriously injured as well so may try riding after your basketball career is over. If any place has trail riding, those horses are using very tame, very slow and that's why they use them. I was on one that tried to take off and it scared me to death as I didn't know how to properly ride! You really need to know, you can't just jump on a horse and go or you can get hurt real badly.
hahaha I wish I could. But yes, you really need someone to teach you how to ride and properly control the horse. Otherwise, you can hurt yourself. :)
