I think you are exactly right!

Another problem is that the general population does not mind being dumbed down. They seem to know being dumb means they will require less thought, less information, and less angst in making up their own minds. Giving in and doing what the government tells them to do through the "objective and unbiased" media programming is so much easier, they take the path of least resistance.

Being a sheep and living in the fantasy world where someone else decides for them is easier than having to remain intelligent and critical. Now, what'on TV tonight?
