RE: Oppressive Division

Divide and conquer.

The growing tribalism emerging in Western democracies is deeply disturbing to me.

And yet, when people such as yourself speak about these things, you become the targets... because the whole narrative in politics is about ‘point of difference’ and shows the influence of marketing in the decision-making. Well, that’s my observation anyhow.

Agreed; it challenges such deeply-dug fractures within a person that bends to multiple authorities, outside themselves, before their own. It was difficult to learn that the responsibility for creating a meaningful existence had been within myself after the decades of giving up my power to bodies of authority, secular and religious. By helping others to be aware of the impact of confirmation bias and helping them identify the abuses they have already suffered, it would certainly seem like the tools are in place, but damn is the "marketing" convincing for some. I agree with @artisticscreech that things are on an apparent decline without significant changes in the trend of tribalism, my only hope is that we can emphasize reason and non aggression enough to reach those hurting in time before they try another path for short term gain and long term suffering.
