Relationship is a very serious thing but a lot of people take it with levity, thinking it is all about the kissing and making love. Relationship requires a lot of hard work, commitment and level head consideration.
This post is to address what the man is expected to do. Don’t get it wrong, the onus is not resting only on the man, but on both parties, and both parties need to work hand in hand to make the relationship work. After this series, I will also speak on few things to note for the ladies, and as usual, both partners can adopt it too.
Trust is very important in a relationship. Without trust, a lot of other tiny details would creep in. You won’t be able to believe whatever your partner says; you won’t be able to care as much as you want to. As a man, you need to learn to trust her. I am also of the opinion that she has to earn it.
The best relationship around is between a blind wife and a deaf husband; the wife would have to overlook a lot of things and the husband would need to ignore a lot that are being said about the wife.
Without trust, there is no security in a relationship. Without trust, you will only have fears and suspicion. There is exposure to potential pain and disappointment where trust is lacking. The first thing you need in a relationship apart from commitment is trust. Trust is really vital. Learn to trust her. Learn to trust her judgement and views too, unless you have a very strong point and you know you are really right. Don’t brush her opinion aside because “She is a lady”. Learn to trust her.
A man once gave a funny illustration as to what it means to trust your partner, even when your life is at risk. I laugh anytime i remember his illustration. He said, imagine going to a barber's shop to cut your hair. This is a man you don't necessarily have to know much about before you allow him or her to shave for you or cut your hair. This person would move the clipper up to your throat but you still feel at ease, knowing he or she is working in your best interest. The thought of this person mistakenly cutting you with a clipper would arise, but you still stay at ease knowing he or she would do a good job at what you asked him or her to do; trust.
