RE: PRES. TRUMP GIVES JEFF SESIONS A KICKING YET AGAIN

in #trump6 years ago

It's fairly interesting since Sessions has done pretty much everything he could do to help the president fulfill his campaign promises. The only thing he's stepped back on is the Russia investigation, so either that's the only thing trump gives a damn about (why so scared if you did nothing wrong?) or he's just oblivious to what Sessions has been doing.

Sort:

interesting analysis, i have always been of the view that Trump is a self interest sort of a guy, never mind that Sessions might be good or bad for America, nevermind that Sessions is as right wing if not more than Trump, i feel that the fact that Trump feels that Sessions is not serving his self interest (i.e. shut the Russian investigation down) is a problem, i may be wrong but these are my thoughts

I'm in agreement. We have seen, through confessions, that there is at least SOME meat to the Russian involvement in the election. Members of his inner circle have confessed/pled guilty. It's become fact. Does that implicate Trump himself? Yet to be determined... but the investigation should continue so that we can see WHO else may be involved, and make sure they are held accountable for it. Conway? Pence? Bannon? We won't know if the president silences this investigation.

As such, there is literally zero way to frame attempting to silence it as "good for America". If we have members of political groups willing to work with our enemies to make sure their chosen candidate wins, using illegal means of access to confidential/private data... they need brought to justice. Very simple line of thought. One the president should 225% be in support of, as the highest custodian of justice for our nation. If he is not, supportive of it, then that can only mean that his is serving his personal interests above those of our nation... in which case, he should be the one being held accountable for such a decision. Further extrapolation leads one to wonder that; if it's in his self interest for this investigation to be stopped to such an extreme that he would abandon his duty to American justice and even attempt to slander those who exercise that justice... what does he fear so greatly? What is it he so desperately wants to hide?

With so many of those found guilty turning evidence into get out of jail free cards... this could go very very deep by the time it runs it's course. Anyone who was convinced there was no collusion initially should be willing to re-evaluate that stance to one of at least skeptical uncertainty given all of the new evidence, confessions, and even his own lawyer's stance changing from "there was no collusion" to "well, collusion isn't a crime!"

I agree, what concerns me though is how long this "investigation" is taking, at this rate Trump would have served 2 terms by the time it concludes , it is taking that long that Trump is now fairly ensconced in the position and it would be very very difficult to shift him ........ it is almost unbelievable what president Trump is allowed to get away with, if anyone else, over the course of a presidency, does half of what he does on a near daily basis (threatening investigators, sexual scandals, dodgy business dealings, dark shodows from Russia, lies, bullying, etc etc) that person would have been sacked and handed over to the police a long time ago, and yet here we are, it is like we are living in a parallel universe

It would be worse to hastily rush through such a thing. If you consider Watergate as any example of how an investigation into the president and his administration must be conducted, this is moving rather quickly.
