“Trump country” stories help explain our politics, not the next election
The real worry is the ability of the corrupt, venal incompetents who run the Democratic party to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. I keep reading that local Democratic party organizations are being revitalized by grassroots activists and concerned local voters. That is certainly good news. The more marginalized the "leaders" of the party are from what is going on in actual election contests, the better the Democrats' chances in 2018.
