I heard a volume about the size of a basketball would destroy a something the size of a housing block. So the movie scene is pretty overdone. It seems to uproot dozens of meters of the top of the surface, Thames included. Yeah sure, it's a movie, I get it.
More effective was what they deployed to turn the WTC towers into dust. No projectiles, but frequencies I guess, directed in a beam. A directed energy weapon, vibrating at just the right frequency to cause molecular disassociation.
The movie is obviously exagerated but it's been 50 years since Nuclear bombs were invented. Who knows what secret technologies (non nuclear) exist now?
Sure, the Nazis were already working on something called "Die Glocke" or The Bell. And the funny thing was it had the highest possible classification of secrecy "Kriegsentscheidend", (ie: Decisive for the outcome of the war), the information related to nuclear weapons was just top secret.
Some say this other thing might make a hydrogen bomb look like a firecracker in comparison.
