I have always dreamt about taking a trip to normandie, the reason for that is many, i wanted to se the landing beaches and pay some respect to the men that was willing to risk thier life there to free Europe, we really owe them so much and that must not be forgotten.

Then there is the lovely contryside with its smal farms and pittoresk small towns, its just a pleasure driving trough the contrysite, the bocage is absolutley lovely, even that i know the alied souldiers that fought here during the dday an on to victory called it ”the hedgerow hell” wich i as a former soldier could really understand, it must have been a mess trying to move through this landscape, as all those hedgerow offer the defender al the advantage of hiding and ambush.

Another reason that made me want to visit normandy is to see the lands of my forefathers, im related to the Viking Ragnar Lothbrook (Ragnar Lodbrok) and as the vikings lothed paris several times they finaly get some land to settle down, i guess it might be an atempt to make peace and as Ragnars brother Rollo became king of french it seems like a good thing to do, as time passes the viking settlements in normandy grew strong, an later on they conquered England in the battle of Hastings, but that is another story 😊

Anyway, as we visited beaux we took the oportunity to look att the beaux tapestry, thats a is thought to date to the 11th century, within a few years after the battle. It tells the story from the point of view of the conquering Normans, but is now agreed to have been made in England.

Facts and tips for a normandy trip.
We booked a flight to paris, and there
We have rented a car that awaited us on arival, the carrental is easy to reach, and there is busses that take you there from your terminal.

When traveling through Paris, you might ad about twice the time that you expect due to al the traficjam (we planed to reach our hotel in Arromances around 18.00 a clock, but we ended up ther around 23.00 a clock (!) it was no problem as we called the manager for the small bed and breakfast that we booked there, and he was nice to help us to get our keys even tho we arrived that late, and the driving was really nice, we stopped in a coupple of small towns on our Way.

On day 2-4 we traveld around normandy, visiting omaha beach, point the hoch, arromanches, beaux, and many other places of interrest, its al in reach easy when you are there, and you can just drive around picking what you like to se as you drive 👍🏼😊

On our way back to our final days in paris, we stayed one night in Rouen (to be honest, it was due to bad planning and that we almost ran out of petrol 😂)
But it shure was a lucky shoot, as it is a absolutley lovley town that you would not miss, full of history, like jean the Arch, the gothic catedral and much more. We also liked the market there where you can find almost everything 👍🏼

Back in paris, we did the usuall tourist traps, like the eifeltower, the notre dame, louvren etc, but if you there that is some of the things you would not like to miss, then there is one tip that i can give that i dident hear of before, there is a really cool market back by the louvten and along the riverside, where you can find loads of cool books, i bought an original 1:st copy of Tintin in congo and thats was a treasure found for me ☺️

I could tell so much more about this trip, and mabey i would make another guide when im a bit more use to this writing, but for now, this is all.

I will soon be back with anoter story, i just have to chose which trip to writh about 😊
