Guinness Storehouse

Visiting the Guinnes Storehouse is probably a must for anyone visiting Dublin in Ireland. It is probably the same as having to visit Big Ben in London or the N Seoul Tower in Seoul.

I quite like my drinks and although I'm not a big fan of Guinness, I still wouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the storehouse and see how this world famous beer is made. The whole area is quite large as can be seen from the model below, but of course only a small part is open to visitors.

The part that was open to visitors, the Storehouse is a seven storey building shaped like a pint of Guinness. You can roughly see the shape and height of the building from these photos I took.

The tour of the Storehouse included display of some of the old brewing facilities, you can see how old they are here.

On one floor was a display of all the different types of bottles that were used in the past. This is just one small section and you can see it is more than 2 storey high here.

As I walked up and looked out of the window I saw the other buildings. There was a lot of steam coming out from one of them, I think this must be where the black stuff is made.

The highlight of the visit is of course The Gravity Bar on the 7th floor. From here you get a 360 degree panoramic view of Dublin and beyond. And you also get to sample a pint of Guinness which is included in the entry price. This is a great way to round of the visit to the Storehouse.
