Vespasianus Titus Tunnel in Samandag
One of ancient Roman engineering marvels is the Vespasianus Titus tunnel.
This tunnel is the world's largest man-made tunnel.
The tunnel is 1,380-meter-long.
This tunnel was built completely by man power as a water channel in the 2nd Century back in those days when Vespasian was the Roman Emperor. It dates all the way back to 2000 years ago.
Today, this has become a site for tourists to visit.
The channel is completely dry.
You can still be able to admire the ancient skills of the Roman builders and engineers.
The place is equipped with stair cases and walking ramps for you to get inside the tunnel.
How to Get to the Vespasianus Titus Tunnel?
You will find the tunnel in the Çevlik village in the Samandağ district of Hatay Province.
When you go along the highway, you will see these brown signs.
You just follow these signs and you will come to these Big Slabs of Blocks giving descriptions of the Titus tunnel.
It is located at the foot of Nur Mountains.
