Burj Khalifa - The Tallest Building in the World

We have heard about the tallest building in the world. It is located in Dubai called Burj Khalifa.

This building was inaugurated in 2010.

The height is 829.8 meters (2,722 feet).

Special Architectural Design

Look at the special cylindrical architectural design.

The primary design concept is an organic form with tri-axial geometry. As you can see it spirals up on the side.

There is a meaning to this design. It is first and foremost traditional Islamic design. The idea of the architect is to incorporate a visual reference to the Islamic culture and also the history surrounding Dubai.

Floor Foundation Design

So if you look at the foundation, the floor plan of the town is a tri axial Y shaped plan.

There are 3 separate wings that connects to the central core of the building.

It has to be created this way so that as the tower rises up to the top, one wing at each tier sets up the spiral pattern.

The spiral pattern visually emphasizes its great height.

At the bottom of the Y-shape plan, the space is used for residents and hotels. In this way, people can get the maximum view looking outward and yet not be hindered by the neighbouring unit. This is quite unique isn't it?

It even solves this problem for you so that you can live comfortably in those apartment spaces.

The Roof

The roof height is 82 meter (2,717 feet)

With the popularity of taking selfie today, I am as tall as the tallest building and can even touch the tip.

This skyscraper actually began its construction in 2004. It took about 5 years to plan, to build and by 2009, the exterior was completed.

Then about a year later, the building was opened in 2010 to show its new development. And when this whole building was ready, it has drawn so many people to come to Downtown Dubai.

When you come here, you will see this center piece and it surely gained a lot of international recognition. Tourists flog here to see this great sight and everywhere, the tourists are looking up to try to get the full picture of this tallest skyscraper in the world.

It has 160+ floors.

This was about a $20 billion project located right outside downtown Dubai. You can imagine the high cost of the location.

There are 2 adjacent podium structure with 2 story pool annex.

Intitially called Burj Dubai

In the beginning, the name of the skyscraper was called Burj Dubai. The name was given to honor the ruler of Abu Dubai and the president of the united Emirates called Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

How to Get to Burj Khalifa

You can get there via the Dubai Mall.

So in the metro station, take the Red line to Burj Khalifa Station.

From there, take the F13 bus and get off at the Dubai Mall Bus Stop.

You can't miss it.

It is right in front of you - the tallest building in the world.
