We learn that money came about because barter was not convenient, but the myth of a barter economy has always just been a myth. It seems that many old societies would rely on reputation, relationships and basic needs to decide how things were distributed within their small societies. Barter and trade were essentially for dealing with other tribes or outsiders.

Wouldn't it be interesting if we could create little pockets where money was not required as long as you formed a decent relationship with the community and the members were free to engage in the money economy simply for the purpose of interacting with other communities? A return to tribes but in a very modern way. Hmm Not sure how itd work in a large scale but I would love to participate in building something like this to see how we could build upon the ideas you've set forth here. I don't think it will happen in just one place, it seems that a network of these communities is already evolving as they continue to grow :-)
