I am talking about protecting data from Ransomware virus... if your data in on the blockchain even if your system gets affected, you can fetch the data from blockchain anytime as it is distributed and decentralize.
The data doesn't get stored "in the blockchain". The hash of the data or the location of the data is stored in the blockchain. Your data should not be stored on any computer connected to the Internet if you want to be safe from Ransomware and in the case of NSA military grade cyber weapons that might not even be enough.
Only a hardware wallet can keep your private keys safe. You need to keep it shielded, and air-gapped.
Maidsafe is not a blockchain it is more like an ant colony algorithm similar to Freenet but even still not quite. Storj is also not a blockchain but at best will be a smart contract which provides incentives to store data off chain. So no, none of them are on blockchains and the data is stored off chain in all of these cases. Not entirely sure about Filecoin but if it's IPFS then it's not a blockchain.
People who are against cryptocurrencies are thinking they have got an issue to put a ban on the it.
