66% Indians cannot live without their phones for even a single day
The latest State of Digital Lifestyles report by Limelight Networks highlights that majority of Indians cannot live without the smartphones for an even a single day. With respect to laptops and desktop computers, this number touched 45 per cent, which is 12 per cent greater than the global average.
The digital technology wave seems to have gained significant momentum in India and going by the latest 'State of Digital Lifestyles' report from Limelight Networks, nearly two-thirds of Indian consumers say that they could not go a single day without their mobile phones. The report ranks India in the second place when it comes to those addicted to their digital devices, and Malaysia follows in the third place.
In the State of Digital Lifestyles survey, respondents in ten countries were asked how they interact with digital media and the impact of technology on their lives. Nearly 66 per cent of Indian users responded that they would not be able to stop using their mobile phone for even a single day. In comparison, the global average of users unwilling to separate from their digital device stands at 48 per cent.
When it comes to laptop and desktop computers, 45 per cent of Indian users reported that they could not go without them for a single day, which is the highest in the survey, and 12 per cent more than the global average of 33 per cent.
Coming to how digital technology has impacted the respondent's lives, Indian users readily embraced the digital wave with 93 per cent acknowledging that digital technology has positively impacted their lives. Comparatively, Japanese and German respondents believe this change to be the lowest with only 11 per cent and 25 per cent of them reporting that it to have had a significant impact in their lives. The report also mentions that Indians are the most optimistic about the impact of technology on their lives globally.
In addition, India has reportedly the highest level of engagement across all types of online digital content. 78 per cent of Indians download or stream music at least once a week. Indian respondents also showed a higher inclination to downloading movies and watching them offline. Moreover, 35 per cent of Indian respondents owned health and fitness trackers such as Fitbit, Garmin or Apple watch while 33 per cent were planning to buy one within the next six months.
