Most Expensive Car
Mercedes-Benz Maybach Exelero
Price: $8 million
The Maybach Exelero is a high-performance unique sports car built in 2004. The 700 hp (522 kW) four-seater with a twin turbo V12 engine is a one-off design built by Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH, on request for Fulda Tires, the German division of Goodyear. Fulda is using this car as a reference vehicle to test a new generation of wide tires. The German luxury car manufacturer created the model as a modern interpretation of its legendary streamlined sportscar from the 1930s. There are various allusions to the historical predecessor, which was likewise based on a powerful Maybach automobile. In this case, the Maybach SW 38 was also used by Fulda for tire testing. The car is famous for being portrayed in an episode of long-running German show Cobra 11, in which it is used in the ending chase of the episode "Freundschaft".
Most Expensive Watches
Patek Philippe 5004T
Patek Philippe 5004T. Produced as a one-of-a-kind model in 2013 for an auction, the Patek Philippe 5004T is the only titanium version of the no longer produced reference 5004 watch collection. In a surprise move, Patek Philippe created a sportier look for the 5004 dress watch as a way to say farewell to the otherwise conservative collection. The 5004T sold at auction in 2013 for about $3,985,000.
The Breguet Marie Antoinette
Breguet Grande Complication Marie-Antoinette.
PRICE: $30 MILLION.
Encased in gold, displaying the intricate mechanism running it, Breguet used sapphire to lower the friction within the piece. It was commissioned by an alleged lover of Marie Antoinette, the French queen.
This watch was originally designed by Breguet himself and has more pieces (823) than an iPhone. It’s self winding, has a minute repeater, perpetual calendar, equation of time, jumping hour, power reserve indicator, and a bimetallic thermometer – everything but MMS messaging. It took forty-four years for the original to be constructed and Breguet and Marie Antoinette both died before it was completed. Ultimately, the original watch disappeared, never to be seen again. When Swatch acquired Breguet, an Indiana Jones style quest for the watch began. When they came up short they reproduced the watch using only the images of the original. Breguet has received offers in the eight digit range, but still refuse to sell.
