The new iPhone 8 Launches on September 12th. What Should We Look Forward To?

I love Apple. I mean who doesn’t?

Doesn’t matter if you are an Apple fan boy or not, even if you swear by Android, you cannot help but take notice its beautiful devices, the exceptional integration of hardware and software, and the robust after sales support. Apple products are a symphony in metal!

So when the tech giant announced its next launch date as September 12th, it sparked off a number or rumor mills. I will try to take a sneak peak into some of them.

What devices will Apple release on September 12th?

• Apple will release the iPhone 8 (Of course!!) and along with it, two new iterative iPhone updates, possibly named the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
  
• Apple may also announce a new 4K Apple TV and a new Apple watch, both of which will feature improved resolution than the existing models.
  

How will the new iPhone 8 be?

• The leaks across the internet suggest that the phone will sport a near bezel less display, taking up almost the entire front of the device.
  
• The fingerprint reader may have been shifted to the back of the phone to make way for the display.
  
• A new 3D sensor embedded in the front of the device will support facial recognition. Users will be able to use face recognition technology to unlock the phone.
  
• The iPhone 8 display is purported to be brighter and more vivid than any of the existing iPhones due to the new OLED panel technology.
  
• Given the extended display, the screen size should be around 5.8-inch, which will provide more viewing real estate.
  
• The front and the back camera are being beefed-up to offer better augmented reality experience, which will go well with the artificial reality APIs in the iOS 11.
  
• Rumors also have it that the iPhone 8 will have an enhanced low light performance through a bigger image sensor in the camera.

Anything more that we should be aware of?
The iPhone 8 is rumored to be priced around $999. The price point seems off the charts but then Apple is always in favor of price driven exclusivity. So prepare to shell out some big bugs for this new boy!

However, the price point should not be a deterrent as wireless carriers will come up with monthly payment plans to make it easy for the consumers. Critics are expecting the carriers to price the phone at a monthly $42 (for a 24-month plan) over and beyond the wireless charges.


How will the market look for Apple post the iPhone 8 launch?
Hard to say but critics are expecting the iPhone 8 to sell briskly and will fly off the shelves at launch. The iPhone 8 will be placed as a ‘Luxury’ iPhone and will be an object of desire. Apple was never known to be price-competitive in line with Samsung or Motorola, and no one expects them to be otherwise this time. The good news, however, is that while iPhone 8 becomes an object of aspiration, the other iPhone models (7s Plus, 7 Plus, 7s, 7, and SE) will provide a wide range of price points for the consumers.
