Steemit website is back up!!

in #trending6 years ago (edited)

The steemit website was down for the majority of the day. I tried searching online to find some news on what happened. I heard a rumor that there was a denial of service attack but I have not been able to confirm that information.

I checked this morning at 10am and I was not able to view the site, approximately 20 minutes ago 8:20 pm I was able to get back on to the site.

I wrote an article yesterday that talked about some of the issues surrounding steemit signing up new users. This would be one of them. Website accessibility and confidence in service is a big factor in attracting new members.

Most of the bidbots are still offline and not taking any bids so right now no money flowing through the platform.

If anyone has any information on what caused today's outage please comment and share.

Yeah, long day.

If the site isnt working we should still be able to see our wallets. Steemit should come out with a locally stored wallet.

I've had desktop Bitcoin, Litecoin, & Ethereum wallets, on my laptop. Cryptocurrencies are not really independently stored offline, on local computers, as in just one place like digital money, as it is decentralized and everywhere on the blockchain, the info, the chain, the code, and what we do store on wallets are the passwords, the pass phrases, the key to access what stays on the blockchain.

Desktop Steem Wallet

I think I've seen at least one desktop Steem wallet app. But we could always try to make better apps or whatever if we want to, if we need to, if there are any problems with the apps already out there, assuming they work since I haven't tried Steem wallet apps yet. Upvoted.
