Is It TikTok's Latest Beauty Obsession?

in #trend11 months ago

Like a summer hit that suddenly graces the playlist before fading away behind a new song. Of course, this is different from when I suddenly listened to some Urdu songs, but not because of the trend, but because my Spotify is not yet premium. Eventually, because my taste buds are quite random, I searched for similar songs in a wider group and collected them in the album "Eastern Tapestry". Uff, I'm going to vent a bit, hehe.

Let's take a look at the picture below!

I'm sure the woman in the picture is still beautiful, in fact I don't see any significant changes even though I only have to focus on the shoulders. In fact, if I'm being honest, the shoulder before the 40 units of neurotoxin injection is even more attractive to look at. But, well, this is the trend, and "Barbie" is the role model this time.

Barbie Botox or Migraine Medicine?
Before it was called "Barbie Botox," this procedure was actually designed as a way to treat migraines! Yup, it was meant to help relieve migraines and intense neck tension by releasing the overworked trapezius muscle, located at the back of the neck and shoulders.

Hearing this trend, I was actually quite excited myself, because in people with chronic migraines or severe muscle tension, Botox injections are recommended. It works by stopping the nerve signals that make the muscles contract, Botox relaxes the muscles. If I can afford it, I would also like to get this treatment.

I haven't had an intense check-up, but for the longest time, I would get a migraine once every two weeks, and most often it would be once every three days. The severity, yes, varies. Sometimes, I need to bind my head, massage (but not just anything or else it'll get worse), and scrapings if needed. So, it's totally not for beauty procedures.

Let's go back to the "Botox Barbie" trend. As time went by, this procedure started to be used off-label for beauty purposes, such as lengthening the neck and reducing the size of the shoulders, which is then called as "Barbie Botox" which will create a Barbie-like shape. Uwa...!

Have you heard that Botox liquid can migrate?
Botox fluid can migrate, refers to the ability of the fluid to move from the area where it was injected, to other areas of the body. In this context, the implications are noteworthy because when Botox fluid is injected into a muscle, the nerve signals are stopped, resulting in weak muscles. Imagine, there is a possibility for the botox fluid to migrate!

The transmigration of this botox liquid can be fatal if it gets into other muscles that it is not meant to treat; causing muscle paralysis or other unintended effects. In fact, if the botox fluid travels to the neck or head area, it can affect the function of the muscles involved in head movement, resulting in not being able to lift the head properly!

Really need a warning that only doctors or medical professionals are recommended to perform this procedure!

Like a short rain that leaves a deeper dryness.

Finally, in terms of taste, I prefer a well-toned neck with prominent sweet muscles. There's nothing wrong with following a trend, really, especially if it's done to empower confidence. But, look at the long-term effects too!
