Review Everything Again! Business Locations Kill Employees
If you are thinking of going to work and you are creating excessive stress, it is useful to know that you are not alone. But the consequences can be distressing if for economic reasons this desire is not turned into a disclaimer. Because in recent years there has been a huge increase in both health problems and deaths due to work stress.
According to the European Commission of Occupational Health and Safety, 550 million working days each year is causing the problem of 'stress-induced' absence of work behind the loss
The results of 300 researchers surveyed in 2015 are really striking.
Because the death and illness rates caused by harmful practices at work are equivalent to those caused by passive exposure to cigarette smoke.
Among the harmful applications at work are 👇
Long working hours.
Work-family conflict.
Economic insecurity.
No job control.
In countries like the USA, there is no health insurance.
As health care costs increase in the world, work places become an important public health problem center.
Four quarters of health spending worldwide is chronic diseases, and deaths due to noncommunicable diseases account for 63 percent of all deaths.
Surveys show that there are 120,000 extra deaths per year due to harmful administrative practices at work.
And it is said that the extra health spending from it comes to 190 billion dollars a year.
In this case, the causes of death are in the order of fifth place, ahead of workplaces, kidney diseases and Alzheimer's.
In the UK, there were 12.5 million working days lost due to work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2016-17.
Are the bad practices that cause these problems in terms of those who are used to the benefit of the companies?
Of course no. Long working hours affect productivity. They do not increase the performance of their workplaces, they also provide savings for reasons such as the best workers to leave, compensation or weakening of ties with customers.
Research shows that they are working with more motivation if they have more control over when and how they will do their jobs. It is also clear that stressful and sick workers are not as efficient as their health.
There are other data showing that working life has deteriorated.
In the past, it is becoming more routine for them to get out of the business for the periods of economic crisis. For example, in the food sector, the merger of Heinz and Kraft companies resulted in 20% of the workforce being excluded from the job.
The 'flexible economy', which imposes precarious work, is accompanied by problems of time and relationship with the family.
In 1950-60, CEOs thought they were responsible to shareholders, customers, employees, and the public. In the meantime, the interests of the shareholders are kept on top of everything.
There are very few managers who are responsible for the physical and mental health of people working in their companies.
The number of companies that consider employees to work in favorable conditions and live at the same time is relatively small.
When choosing a workplace, employees need to consider not only wage and promotion but also physical and mental health. Business managers should measure not only their profits, but also the health of their workforce.
For governments, if they focus on high-cost businesses in health spending, because workplace stress makes people sick.
