Standing dead, killed by
saltwater influx during the good
Friday quake in 1964 when the
land sank by 10 feet in this
area and rose in others.
A 9.4 earthquake is a real rocker!
Massive tsunami soon followed.
When this happened I was little
and we were headed inland
from Crescent City, California.
Have felt many earthquakes since.
From California to Alaska.
Try to be prepared for humans and
animals, water and food.
Lights, camera, action.

I remember when that earthquake happened. I was just old enough to be aware of events that were happening in the rest of the world, and I remember watching the TV news and being horrified that such a thing could happen!
Oops a, I got behind lol
My early interest in how and why and what about geology! :-)
Just felt a quake last night! Wrote about it on the mtn post.
Standing vigil even though it has been dead for the last 54 plus years. It still stands, as if guarding the field.
OMG it's been awhile lol
They say they are like a stone forest, need to tap on one next time! :-)
A future petrified forest in the making.
Thank you very much @phototalent! :-)
Such a cool shot and edits, thats a real powerful quake and this is a great way to highlight how powerful and devastating they can be
Thank you @tattoodjay! :-)
I'm a little late here lol
We just felt one last night, wrote about it
recently on the #mountainmonday post.
I just saw that, I am lucky I usually sleep through them :)
Like the gray weathered look and of cause the background is jaw dropping.... :-)
Thank you @manorvillemike! :-)
That's a great place there at the end of Turnagain arm
by Portage. The mountains all around, I had to go back
and pick my jaw up lol
Wow! I was thinking about the impact of big earthquakes in the Pacific! Where to live safely from natural calamity!
