TreeTuesday!! Ancient 800 Years Old Rimu @ New Zealand
Here i share a picture of a magical day i have with some friends at the Otari-Wilton's Bush in Wellington, New Zealand.
The simple presence of this tree is outstanding, if you are around New Zealand don't lose this spot!!
An 800-year-old giant rimu stretching high into the canopy is a reminder of the ancient native forests that covered Wellington before the arrival of European settlers.
Its 100ha of native forest now make up half the city's surviving original bush. While rampant possums continue to threaten Wellington's vegetation, intensive pest control, planting projects and mushrooming volunteer conservation groups have helped green the city further.
As for the 800 year old rimu, it's already outlived the tree's average lifespan but could still be around for another 200 years.
Happy Tuesday!
