HOLLOW HEART #treetuesday
White oak growing by the upper Carmans river at Southaven County park in Shirley Long Island, NY. Walking along the main path that runs along the river I spot this old stubby White oak. This side of the river the land is elevated about 30 feet above the water.
I walk down the short path to get a closer view of the water.
I turn to look at the tree and see a hole in the shape of a heart.
The hole is facing the river so can't be seen from the main path. Looking in the cavity seems huge.
To get a better look, I put the camera flash on ....
Looks like someone helped make the heart shape. There was some faded writing above and below the hole.

Would make a great house for some wildlife with a great view of the river, the only downside is the junk inside @manorvillemike
Junk from the human wild life :-)
Nice work @manorvillemike! Love the scenic (and curious!) post - sadly, I believe I know a gentleman who lives in those woods (or thereabouts) - pray for Brother Mark that he's surviving this brutal arctic winter blast
. . .
Just started to snow here. Doesn't say cold for to long here on Long Island.
Some ones memories of love are caved in that tree what a perfect shaped heart luckily the trees can repair themselves it's a great scenery from that elevation also :)
Thanks @hangin... Got some more photos of tree cavities from this walk coming up.
Your most welcome i will keep a eye out for your next post ..... Cheers :)
Luckily this tree is still alive! I like oak trees!
