Tree Tuesday – Japanese Maple and T-Rex Looking Tree Claw

in #treetuesday7 years ago

Fall colors have been really beautiful this year and I took this picture of a Japanese Maple. It has been altered some by processing in Goggle Photos.

Japanese Maple

Tyrannosaurus Rex Claws

I ran across this tree branch on the path and it somehow reminded me of a T. Rex claw or a bird foot or something.

Tree claw

The stubby claws and arms of T. Rex have been in the news a lot recently and the latest theories are that the arms rotated on a shoulder joint much like ours. The short length and sharp claws could rip some deep wounds into other dinosaurs.

My theory is that these claws might have been used to just wound other dinosaurs and cause the weaker looking ones to die from septic shock or a major infection. That way the T. Rex could come back after scratching its victims and eat a meal without having to fight something to the death.

Lots of vultures do this nowadays. They often have very nasty bacteria under their claws because of their habits of feating on and picking apart carrion in various levels of decomposition. Sometimes they will swoop down and rake a younger or sickly looking animal in hope of setting in a major infection in them. Then they fly away so they don’t get injured by the animal and circle around waiting for it to die.

Possibly T. Rex used his arms like this. If he or she pulled apart dead things when eating, I would think that there would be a lot of icky stuff under their nails. So there you go – you can say you heard it first here on Steemit, LOL.

Thanks for reading! I always value your support and comments. The pictures are taken by me with my Galaxy S7. Tree Tuesday was started by @old-guy-photos

A Maple tree with those leaves truly is beautiful. I probably would collect sap from it if I had the chance.
Quite an imagination ou had with that claw. I wonder how really T-Rexs catch and eat their prey. Probably they swallow them whole most of the time.
Some animals sometimes just uses affliction to others so that they can eat them like the Komodo dragon which makes their prey succumb to disease before them eating the dying animal.

I think you need a Sugar Maple tree for collecting sap. They mostly grow back east and I'm not sure if there are any around here. I think we are learning more and more about the T-Rex through computer modeling. Maybe there will be some different theories as things progress. I've heard of the Komodo dragon, that's another good example.

WOW! The bright red against the blue is stellar!

That is a very plausible theory! It always amazes me how they can eat that decompsing flesh and never be effected by it, whereas it would kill us Im sure.

Thanks! Vultures are pretty amazing and do some really valuable clean-up work. Things would get pretty smelly if not for them. Lots of hydrochloric stomach acid and resistance to pathogens that would put us in the IC ward, keeps them healthy.

Wow for the Japanese Maple. It truly is stunning. The branch looked to me like a dinosaur claw too. I don't how T-Rex's claws helped me cos I am really not much into dinosaurs but I do know soon I'll be reading more books on them than ever because my son loves them. His favorite is Triceratops lol

My son went through a stage where he wanted to be a paleontologist and was very interested in dinosaurs too. I wanted to be a trash collector when I was really young - I thought the trucks were really cool and had an interesting smell, lol.

Hahah this is something different- wanting to be a trash collector. I have a lot of respect for trash collectors and janitors. Whenever my son sees one, I tell him to be extra nice to these people because they are the ones that help us keep our house and streets clean.

nice
