COCONUTS FOR TREE TUESDAY

A dear friend of mine once said: "You have more coconuts in your place than the people!" That made me laugh, because from time immemorial coconuts have been there. And to be honest, I didn't mind them, until she made that remark. So, whenever I see a coconut I fondly remember her honest observation, because she is so, so right!

I remember telling her that this is so because these are the only trees that survive typhoons not stronger than signal no. 3 (100 kph to 185 kph of wind). Since ours is a Province vulnerable to natural disasters that somehow visit so often, these coconut trees are always the last ones standing. This may explain why we have many coconut.

But coconuts are not only loved because of that. It is actually a beauty of its own. Plus it has so many uses, from roots to tips!!!
