A Tree To Remind You Of Christmas? - A Tree Tuesday Contribution

It's Tuesday and once again it's time for Tree Tuesday hosted by @old-guy-photos.

For today I would like to feature a tree I saw earlier this afternoon on my way home from work (yes, our city has downgraded our community quarantine and allowed our sector to open and do business on a regulated basis). What a relief to be able to get out and do, if not all, some of the things you used to before the lockdown. This tree was standing right in the middle of a pile of sand and gravel used for construction. Here it is:

This tree is known as the Breadfruit tree (Artocarpus altilis). Its fruits are a staple food in the South Pacific and other tropical areas. The fruit has large amounts of starch and is prepared by roasting, boiling, frying, baking and grinding into flour after drying. Cloth can be made from the inner bark which is fibrous. The wood from the tree are used in making furniture while from its milky juice glue and caulking material can be obtained. (Source: Encyclopedia Britannica.)

What attracted me to this tree is its leaves which from afar looked like large holly leaves. The tree looked very festive and "Christmassy", if you can call it that.

I would have loved to take an even closer up photos but the area was gated and was closed. See below:

If you really think about it, there's still some things of beauty and joy to be seen, even when you are down and in the dumps. Just like this Breadfruit tree. All you have to do is to look around and be aware of what would normally be hidden from just a cursory glance.

And that's it for this post. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for visiting and may your week be a blessed one! Stay safe and take care!
