tree tuesday — the driftwood playground
Driftwood always has a story to tell —
born in the forest,
adrift at sea,
an old age sunning on the beach.
Handcrafted America, Jill WagnerLife is as inexorable as the sea.
Thomas Wentworth Higginson, A Moonglade, 1875–76
The Park's genial forests of white and red firs,
incense cedars, sugar, yellow and lodgepole pines,
spreading up to altitudes of eight and nine thousand feet,
with graceful mountain hemlocks and indomitable white-bark pines
ranging the alpine levels beyond,
thrill every lover of splendid trees.
But these are overshadowed by its groves of Giant Sequoias,
the marvel of the botanical world,—
immemorial trees....
a playground fashioned for giants.

love that first pic - it shows what grows beneath the ground mirrors what grows on top - Good use of perspective!
Perspective, yes. Without a little person inside the tree roots would look well, like tree roots. Now it looks like a monster tree.
so cute!
Yes he is....thank you. :)
Now that what I call Driftwood Huge pieces I am used to seeing the tiny branches that float in Lake Erie. It is incredible your son lives in paradise.
You should see these monsters come to shore with the tide - that's the Pacific Ocean there. And where my grandson is playing was filled with water hours before and within hours it will again be water The tide comes and goes rapidly.
Your first photo is absolutely beautiful! Love the driftwood but the best is the little gaffer sitting in it! Must be your grandson! I'd recognise that grandma touch anywhere!
hehe...of course you would!
Oh my goodness that is beautiful! Now that makes a treetuesday.
I know right? Children and giant trees. Best fun ever.
In texas everything is big... Yeah? Well, you may wanna take a look at how big driftwood is in Canada lol
lol....you're so funny. Canada is way better than the US....but don't tell anyone I said that :)
These trees are enormous that for sure.....great place for kids to play.
Wow! Fabulous photos and tree! 💕
Thanks @denisechips. Beautiful place to play and photograph that is for sure.
oh my goodness, is that your grandson by chance? So cute, he looks so tiny next to that huge pile of driftwood. What a beautiful day to take photographs, the sky was so blue and was that snow on the hills behind? What a whimsical day. I'll be heading to my daughters house soon! Exciting times!
Yes @birdsinparadise. Proud grandmom here. I confess :) Very exciting times ahead for you.
Nice photos @countrygirl :)
That tree is huge, very cool. I bet that kid had fun playing around too!
Huge is right. These trees are amazing to see in person. The beach is littered with them.
Such amazing roots! Wow the third pic really brings out the size!
Tree Tuesday....roots, water, and a little boy :) Thanks!
