tree tuesday — spring forward - tick tock

in #treetuesday6 years ago

We woke up Sunday and forgot to change our clocks ahead for Daylight Savings Time on Saturday before we went to bed. Thankfully our wifi operated equipment automatically changed the time for us, thank you wifi! Non computerized clocks however had to be changed manually.

That's when we got confused.

The first time we noticed something askew was when we were coming home from the restaurant. The time there was 8:00pm. The clock in our car was 7:00pm. We thought we had left home at 4:00pm because we looked at the time on the stove. We didn't think we'd been gone for 4 hours, had we?

It took us a few seconds many minutes of confusing chatter back and forth as to what day of the week it was, to the month, to questioning our very existence earth before it dawned on us that we had forgotten to change the clocks ahead the night before. I felt like we were in a Charlie Brown discussion. This was the first time we've miss the ritual.

We have so many clocks in our house, I'd say it's officially a collection. I promised @irreverent-dan a long time ago, that I'd do a photo project to show all the clocks. I haven't done so. Why? I don't have a vision for it yet. This post would have been the perfect segue to show those. Another time my friend, another time.

Spring forward to today. We have the clocks up to date time, and we are no longer confused about where we live, the day of the week or why we are alive. Our annual pilgrimage is complete. All is good in our little town.

How do I know all is well? A little birdie told me so.

But what minutes!
Count them by sensation, and not by calendars,
and each moment is a day.

Thank you @old-guy-photos
for initiating the #treetuesday photo challenge.

Sort:

I rely on satellite resets. My windup clocks will catch up but sometimes my electric ones just stay wrong six months out of the year.

Yes, I’m that lazy.

Nah....not lazy....just an LA state of mind. (love Billy Joel still)

That photo reminds me that soon it will be time for the birds to sing - I don't mind DST but missing the reminders shows me we're probably watching too much on the Trump saga and missing out on the local news

I heard them singing today....which is what inspired me to use this photos. The robins have to be back they are the only birds that sing in a group (I think.) I don't ever want to hear that name or see it EVER. AGAIN (sorry if any one is a fan whose reading my comment).

Oh my that is too funny! I have to say though we were thrown off too because the state of Florida has decided to Not do daylight saving time anymore so we too didn't know what the true time was! Life is a struggle sometimes lol! Sweet birds :)

I know, I know....life is sooooo difficult. :) But it's funny how a small thing like that throws you off balance....we were laughing so hard because we felt like two old farts trying to figure out why the clock was wrong at the restaurant. Oh boy. I saw that Florida decided not to change the time...I wish we would keep to one or the other as well.

That happens! Sometimes my students use it as an excuse to miss class, even. Great photo of the bird! It looks like spring is sort of trying to come.

I'd love to see those clocks, too!

Okay.....okay. I'll get on it. I need inspiration. I'll think :)

Oh yes, my husband was an English teacher - he'd come home with the best excuses and we'd laugh. I should ask him for some and write them in a post....or you could. That would be funny.

I only have to do the stove and the microwave, easy peasy (plus I had Alexa remind me to change the clicks, so I was on top of things! I love this photo!

Thanks.....I really like this photo too. There is something soft about it. I do like birds however.

You're lucky someone was there to give you a heads up re the clocks.

I usually check in briefly on Facebook in the morning and I think I saw something about the time change there. I like birds, too.

I'll bet you have a ton of bird photos from your travels and even from your garden?? I love them as well....esp the sound of the mourning doves cooing or the dawn chirping and singing of the robin families.

oo shit....hmmm this is news fore me good to have the wifi operated on duty here to...have not even thought before now. Thank you for the info lol

Get those clocks changed!! haha.....

It's nice to see worms crawling on the wet sidewalks and plenty of robins hopping about to scoop them up, Spring must be headed our way!!!

Yes please :) I suppose you are shovelling out again today?

One of those rare moments where you genuinely believe you may have time traveled. Worm hole on the way home from dinner? Totally possible. The clock in my car is still wrong and I'm still second guessing myself every time I look at it.

lol....you're hilarious. It's so true isn't it ? Time travel or twilight zone but I never thought of a worm hole.....that's good. hehehe......maybe we did....

You're the second person to say that they didn't change the car clock. Too funny.

oh this bird .. I always dreamed of being a bird.
how sweet! How innocent. perfect photo. and harbinger of spring.
Congratulations my friend. (by the way, I am now wondering about the watch collection)

Oh no....now I'm going to have to get these clocks into a photo somehow!! I'm glad you enjoyed the bird....I love them as well.

One day you'll fly like a bird :)

Or, you could have waited 6 months, and been alright again! I have to admit to having done the wait 6 months thing, at least in my car truck.

That's so funny! You are so consistent :)
