Tree Tuesday--Giant Sequoias
Good Tree Day Steem. Today I am sharing the Giant Sequoia from Sequoia National Park. I have been fortunate to hasve seen these gigantic beasts in other parts of California--Yosemite and Calaveras Big Trees--but the groves in Sequoia were even more impressive! Bellow you can see @joleenwillis next to the trunk of a tree with a big burn scar. Some of these trees are up to 3200 years old, having survived many fires!
Bellow is the top of the largest tree in the world by volume--the General Sherman, with a height of 275 feet and a girth of over 36 feet! To give you an idea of how big it is, the large branch on the right is the size of a big non Sequoia tree!
A misty fog rolled into the park in the afternoon, surrounding the Sequoias massive trunks and obscuring the tops of the trees which seemed to disappear.
Such incredible scenes! I love all your tree photos, but I think the 2nd one is my favorite :) The sun peaking through the tree is amazing!
Thanks, that one was hard to get a picture of because it's so big!
