Santa Catarina Island is in southern Brazil with the capital city being Florianópolis. Known for its beaches, surfers, islands, mountains, restaurants, nightlife, lagoons, little Owls and Tarantulas, many of them. Here we were hiking up (and down) to the peak near Mole Beach facing Lagoa da Conceição. Check out the Owl, Tarantula and Lagoa de Conceição here

Dude... you pull out the Tarantulas pictures like once a year! Just kidding... I recall that hike you guys took. Crazy... no flip-flops!
Yes that was the trip and I only had sneakers. I was always the last and let the others "clear out" whatever was on the trail. It was the time of season that Tarantulas hatched thus why so many baby ones all over the place.
It kinda reminds me of the fire-ants we came on many years ago.. only difference is that they swarm... i'm gettin' all itchy!
Very unusual to see photos posted by you with no sunset! :) But I love them. Looks like real South American jungle. I can imagine all the sounds of the wildlife living there. Do you have any close-ups of the tarantulas?

You'd love those owls... they would snatch up the little rats, fly away and drag them in the hole (yes they live underground). check out the post
