Tree Tuesday ~ Mt. Baldy

in #treetuesday6 years ago (edited)

These are my entries for the #treetuesday
hosted by the one and only @old-guy-photos.

Here is a bit of an oxymoron for Tree Tuesday… Palm Trees and the Snow-capped San Gabriel Mountains. The peak to the left is known as Mt. Baldywhich is the highest in the Los Angeles area at about 3,068 meters with a vertical of 680 meters. Mt. Baldy, also known as Mt. San Antoniois only about 100 km from the Pacific Ocean (Santa Monica). During the Winter, these snow-capped mountains can be seen from most areas around Los Angeles.

This photo was taken today from Rancho Cucamonga -- yes that is a real place, which is about 50 miles East of Los Angeles and located at the base of the mountain range.

Beautiful photo of Palm Trees and the Snow-capped San Gabriel Mountains. I like green leaves and snowy mountains!

Thank you... yes that a great contrast, especially with palm trees!

Finally you got a shot from the Inland Empire! I'v been waiting given all the rain, thus snow covered mountains. Do you remember who we went skiing with last at Mt. Baldy?

Yes I do... Went with GT and his wife in the middle of the week on a sunny day. I recall hitting some grassy spots, but it was awesome.

Contrast program on your blog, but beautiful, too! :-)

Thank you! As you know best, one must change it up (the tempo) once and awhile.

Wow what a unique sight! Reminds me of my stay on Tenerife where I was watching the snow-covered peak of Pico del Teide (the highest mountain of the island as well as all Spain) while swimming in the ocean and sunbathing on the beach just a few miles from the mountain :) Nature is incredible.

Wow... just googled that. Looks remarkable. Yes, nature is incredible... it snowed in Malibu today.

What?! It snowed in South California? Wow... how often does that happen? Once in a decade?

Oh yes man, the Canary Islands are such a beautiful and extraordinary place. It is quite a long flight (by European standards I mean :D) - it takes between 3 to 6 hours to get there - depending on what country you fly from - but it is definitely worth it. I lived on Tenerife for a couple of months. Wonderful island, sweet memories.

Mt. Blady indeed is a spectacular place and you captured its serene beauty @armentor :D

Thank you my friend. It is quite beautiful to see the snow capped mountains on a clear day.

Ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon? Very cool! Great to see you jump in the tag!

Treetuesday is one of my favorites... Just too many palm trees around me!!!

Blue, white and green what a combination 🤔

Thank you meng!

Thank you my friend!

Excellent shot captured the best of that !!!

Thank you :)

Nice saying with good collection. I appreciate your writing. Hope for another good blog.
