Let's Plant Fruit Trees Everywhere! (or anything that's edible)

Things have gotten pretty bad in the last few hundred years on planet Earth. Humanity has laid to waste so much prestine land, wiped out many species, and on top of that continues to abuse animals in many ways. For too long we humans have been stuck with a tunnel vision that didn't let us see the consequences of our actions. Things are changing though, every day we are collectively a little bit more aware. Can you feel it? Humanity is raising its vibration, our collective consciousness is evolving.

More today are aware of the need to help the environment in some way, to be a force for positive change in the world. Many, being aware of how bad things are, might feel like they cannot affect change or make a difference because of the scale of damage. Well everything we do has effects that we can never predict, so every action might inspire someone if nothing else. Sometimes our actions are important not because they directly changed something for the better, but because they inspired many more people which is ultimately what needs to happen.

And what I think needs to happen is we all need to plant fruit trees on our favorite hiking trails!

Think about it. Imagine if you had already done this 5 years ago, or 10. Imagine going on a hike and coming back with a backpack full of stuff you picked. Imagine if this became a trend and hiking trails had more and more fruit trees near them that people would enjoy more often because of the extra incentive to get out there and have a tasty free organic fruit lunch.

But you could also plant other things. You could plant anything that you'd want to eat. If it's too dry to grow something, that could be your incentive to get out there every day or two and pour some water on it as you hike on by. I would love to see this become a favorite routine for people, to go on a hike in whatever wilderness they have near them and look around wondering what they could plant, what would grow best etc.

And we shouldn't be limited to hiking trails, local woods and such. How great would it be if the trees at your local parks were fruit trees that the community who regularly visits the park takes care of together and eats from freely. The grass and non edible trees we see too often between the sidewalk and the street could be replaced by fruit trees, berry bushes, anything really. Imagine that, we could fill our cities with edible greenery of any kind if we wanted to. We are limited only by our imagination.

I hope one day we turn our cities into sort of managed food forests. Between that and vertical farming, we have no need whatsoever to destroy landscapes. Our future is bright because we want it to be. I hope one day I see fruit trees everywhere. Have a nice day everyone. (:

@proditor, I think that the emergence of Smart Cities in 2060 and thereafter will be architecturally designed with sustainability and environmentalism in mind. I think that there will be vegetation everywhere not just in rural and suburban areas but also on and in the skyscrapers and cities that are built by then.

I hope it doesn't take until 2060 to get these things started, but yeah it'd be nice to see a sea of green when we look at cities. Right now from a distance our cities look like mold growth.
