The tallest trees in the world, full of wonder and mystery.

Earth's tallest tree, can reach higher than 320 feet and live more than 2,000 years. Their trunks can grow more than 27 feet wide. Their leaves are green and flat and sharp-pointed.

These largest of living things are from an ancient line and relative of Redwoods which were present on earth at the same time as the dinosaur. Once found almost world wide, their natural range is now restricted to the foggy coastal belt of northern California. A strip in the Sierra Nevada mountains and in a remote valley in China. These are the only living forests left of a tree line that at one time spanned most of the earth.

Thrive on and indeed require the coastal fog and temperatures of 50-60 degree nurture them and is important to the life cycle of these trees. These 300 foot plus giants actually pull moisture into their needles at the top of the tree where the circulation system of the tree can't pump to.

A live Redwood that is knocked over will attempt to continue growing via its limbs. If undisturbed, the limbs pointing up will turn into trees in their own right and this is the source of many row groups of trees.

With these trees, you wold find that they are identical to each other and to the stump they sprang from making them clones.

The Brotherhood Tree - Even after losing 74 feet of its top in a storm, its still one of the largest living things in this world. It is over 2,000 years old, 19 feet in diameter, 60 feet in circumference and 297 feet tall. It stands today in its solemn majesty. This tree stands on the Forest Experience section of the trail.

The forest has a network of mountain biking and walking trails towered by trees, along with numerous other aspects and the fresh forest air, combined to create an invigorating atmosphere and a truly unique and special environment.

Its one of life's most humbling and amazing experiences.
