#Beach Treasure - Found

in #treasure7 years ago

Since the rising of the sea levels worldwide due to global warming, our local beaches are being eaten away by the tides. With this many little treasures of years gone by start getting exposed.

So much fun looking for trinkets on the beach with family

This was our first day of scavenging for treasure

Everything we've found on that stretch of beach.

Just a closeup of some of the coins found, clearly worn by the ocean.

Strangely enough, some of the currency is new, but worn worse than the older coins we've found.

My Son, after finding some treasure, can clearly see here how high the tides come up, and how they've been eating away at the sand dunes

Since the rising of the sea levels worldwide due to global warming, our local beaches are being eaten away by the tides..............Since a rise is the waves heights due to seasonal storms, some of our coastline has been exposed to high tides, exposing treasures from the last few years, along with some older coins........... Many ways to view the same article............

I agree. Storms are playing a roll, but it is the increased rise in sea levels that are regrading the coastline drastically in this area. Im sure more will be uncovered in the years to come. This part of the coastline is rather shallow above sea level, with just the coastal dunes protecting the flat grass and marsh lands behind.

Could you share the location, that is alot of treasure in a short amount of time, I also search for old coins in the surf, one day hoping to find an ancient gold coin........

Sure , this is Alkantstrand off the Richardsbay Harbour. The next harbour up the coast will be Maputo harbour in Mozambique. There are many rivers, lagoons and lakes that could once have been used for safe harbour between here and Maputo by Merchant vessels when Mozambique was under Portuguese Controll and South Africa was under British Control.

How cool is that?? Wow!! Super cool!! 😍

Indeed, just about the most fun a dad and his son can have. Treasure hunting on the beach. One of our goals is to get a metal detector and walk that stretch of beach. Hoping we can earn enough steem to get one.
