Travel Tip: Chynov Cave, the most colorful cave in the Czech Republic

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Today, I would like to take you to one of the most beautiful natural places of the country, the amazing cave of Chynov.

Located just outside the town of Tabor in the southern part of the Czech Republic, the Chynov Cave is a cave system measuring over 1,200 m (almost 4,000 ft) in length. The cave was discovered in 1863 during works in nearby quarry and five years later, in 1868, it was opened to public.

Unlike some other cave systems in the Czech Republic, the Chynov Cave cannot boast many impressive stalagmites and stalactites but what it lacks in these features, it greatly makes up for with the colors of its walls and ceilings. Striking white, yellow and brown marble facets combined with dark amphibolite stripes makes it the most colorful cave in the country.

The tour takes approximately 40 minutes and the basic entrance fee is 100 CZK (4 EUR / 5 USD). The Chynov Cave is closed during the winter as it is when the cave serves as the wintering site to several bat species.

Your homeland is so beautiful. Like a dreamland. I knew about it. I interested to go there though the opportunity has not come yet.
The cave of Chynov is nice. Good place for travel and adventure. Thanks @czechglobalhosts.

Thank you so much. I do hope you can make it over here at some point!

Chynov Cave reminded me old movies caving. seem to be amazing place. Thankfully cave is closed in winters due to accommodating bats. I am sacred with bats.:(. Thanks for sharing Tomas

Nothing to be scared of, they are harmless:)...

Happy start of the week Tomas,

Thank you so much, maybe one day, you never know:).....

Friend you will be welcome, there are many beautiful places

I think that in the Czech Republic there are the most impressive caves on the planet, this is only an hour's drive from Prague, so it would undoubtedly be a very interesting excursion.

Yes, indeed, not far at long which makes it a great place to explore the country beyond its beautiful capital.

That's right my friend, you could not say it better, cheers!!

Very amazing ... Good friend

Chynov

What an interesting name, It sounds like it is derived from the cave, A perfect name. It has been written in the places which I really want to travel when i will come to the Czech Republic. is this cave is known for bats? It's kinda scary.

Oh my, the colors of the stone are beautiful. It's amazing how the bat hangs onto the face of the cave.

Hello friend, excellent cave, here in my country we have many caves too, the cave of "Guacharo" is very big and beautiful.
