Travel Photo Challenge - Amazing Beaches - Surfers Paradise, Australia

Entry #1 in this week's challenge - the famous beach at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on a grey and windy day.

We were a bit to the south, at Burleigh Heads, hoping to see the Queensland Surf Livesaving Competition, but it was not on, either due to me getting the dates wrong or to the weather, not sure. Too windy for a picnic as planned so I walked along the beach to a headland which had nice elevation, and when I got to the top was rewarded with this view, which saved the afternoon for me!

Canon EOS, zoom telephoto lens, hand-held, f/20, 1/1600 sec., ISO 1600, focal length 75 mm. Slightly cropped.

This is quite an interesting shot. The beach is obviously very beautiful, but it still leaves an impression of desolation and coldness. Great work, @brightongreg. Upvoted, resteemed, followed & DPS.

Thanks for your very positive feedback. I'm not sure desolation and coldness is what they would want to advertise, but every great sunny day is sometimes offset by a dreary one!
