So I went to Mexico city for the first time about 2 years ago and it was so much FUN that I came back to stay for 1 month.

Mexico City began as the home of an ancient empire and grew into a massive, modern metropolis.
With more than 20 million people pulsing through its streets, it's one of the world's largest cities. That big-city bustle brings with it delicious food, massive markets and more cultural events in a day than anyone can ever keep track of.

The city was built on a lake. It's hard to imagine now, but much of the sprawling concrete jungle that now makes up Mexico City was once a large lake.

There's lavish wealth, devastating poverty, history and a lot to discover in Mexico's sprawling capital...

La primera vez que fui a la Ciudad de México fue hace 2 años y fue tan divertido que regrese para quedarme 1 mes.

La Ciudad de México comenzó como la casa de un antiguo imperio y se convirtió en una metrópoli masiva y moderna.
Con más de 20 millones de personas andando por sus calles, es una de las ciudades más grandes del mundo. Ese gran bullicio de la ciudad trae consigo deliciosas comidas, mercados masivos y más eventos culturales en un día de lo que nadie puede seguir.

Esta enorme ciudad fue construida en un lago. Es difícil de imaginar ahora, pero gran parte de la extensa selva de concreto que ahora compone la Ciudad de México fue una vez un gran lago.

Hay riqueza abundante, pobreza devastadora, historia y mucho por descubrir en la extensa capital de México ...

Ya llegue a la ciudad y ahora a donde voy?

1- Tenochtitlan

Tenochtitlan was the capital city and religious centre of the Aztec civilization.
The Aztecs built many canals throughout the city. The canals acted like water roads that allowed people to easily travel around the large city in boats. There were markets throughout the city where people would trade goods and food.

That city, which started out on an island and expanded to include reclaimed parts of the lake, thrived until the Spanish conquest. After winning the battle for control of the area in 1521, Spaniards destroyed Tenochtitlan and built Mexico City on top of its ruins, using canals and roads from the Aztec city as the basis for new streets and eventually draining the lake.

Today the ruins of Tenochtitlan are located in the central part of Mexico City and you can have acces to go visit every day, the cost is about $70 Pesos and you can be there from 9:00 am til 17:00 pm.

Los aztecas construyeron muchos canales por toda la ciudad. Los canales actuaban como caminos de agua que permitían a la gente viajar fácilmente por la gran ciudad en barcos. Había mercados en toda la ciudad donde la gente intercambiaba bienes y alimentos.

Esa ciudad, que comenzó en una isla y se amplió para incluir partes recuperadas del lago, prosperó hasta la conquista española. Después de ganar la batalla por el control de la zona en 1521, los españoles destruyeron Tenochtitlan y construyeron la Ciudad de México encima de sus ruinas, usando canales y carreteras de la ciudad azteca como base para nuevas calles y eventualmente drenando el lago.

Hoy en día las ruinas de Tenochtitlan se encuentran en la parte central de la Ciudad de México y usted puede tener acceso para ir a visitar todos los días, el costo es de $ 70 Pesos y puede estar allí desde las 9:00 am hasta las 17:00.

2- Zocalo

Where it all began. Historic city center that is focused around the Zócalo or Plaza de la Constitución and extends in all directions for a number of blocks with its furthest extent being west to the Alameda Central. Many historic colonial landmarks, and the famous Aztec Templo Mayor, can be found here. The Zocalo is the largest square in Latin America and the third largest in the world after Moscow’s Red Square and Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

I love walking in the zocalo and around, you can find anything you want by knowing the streets, there are also many things to do like visit the museums, markets, galleries, climbing the Latin American tower, appreciate the amazing architecture of the buildings, listen to music on the streets and see all kind of performances, going to a traditional Cantina where you get cheap beer and snacks, go to a Fonda and get comida corrida which is cheap and good traditional food, etc.

Donde todo comenzó. El centro histórico de la ciudad que se centra alrededor del Zócalo o Plaza de la Constitución. Muchos lugares históricos coloniales, y el famoso Templo Mayor Azteca, se puede encontrar aquí. El Zócalo es la plaza más grande de América Latina y la tercera más grande del mundo después de la Plaza Roja de Moscú y la Plaza de Tiananmen de Pekín.

Me encanta caminar en el zócalo y a sus alrededores, se puede encontrar todo lo que quieras con tan solo conocer las calles, también hay muchas cosas que hacer como visitar los museos, galerías, subir a la torre latinoamericana, apreciar la increíble arquitectura de los edificios y los murales,escuchar música en las calles y ver todo tipo De actuaciones, ir a una cantina tradicional donde te baratas cerveza y aperitivos, ir a una Fonda y conseguir comida corrida que es barato y buena comida tradicional, etc.

3- Six Flags

If you are one of those who like the adrenaline this park is perfect for you, it is super fun and if you go during the week there may not be many people ...

Si eres de los que les gusta la adrenalina este parque es perfecto para ti, es super divertido y si te toca buen dia tipo en la semana puede que no haya mucha gente...

4- Castillo de Chapultepec. Chapultepec Castle

Chapultepec Castle is a historic site and local landmark. The fortress was the home of legendary Mexican leaders including Emperor Maximilian and Porfirio Diaz and played an important role in the Mexican-American War. Today, the castle is home to the first-rate National Museum of History.
It is a big and beautiful place are surrounded by nature where you can spend the whole day chilling on the grass, eating Antojitos Mexicanos, walking around eating some chips with a monkey hanging in your head, paddling on the lake, etc.

El castillo de Chapultepec es un lugar histórico y punto de referencia local. La fortaleza era el hogar de los líderes mexicanos legendarios incluyendo emperador Maximiliano y Porfirio Díaz y jugó un papel importante en la guerra mexicano-americana. Hoy en día, el castillo alberga el Museo Nacional de Historia.
Es un lugar grande y hermoso rodeado de naturaleza donde se puede pasar todo el día descansando en la hierba, comiendo Antojitos Mexicanos, paseando comiendo unas patatas fritas con un mono colgando en la cabeza, remando en el lago, etc

5- Las Famosas Luchas libres

Man this show is just so much fun if you don't know about Luchas libres you better go to one while your are visiting the City. The energy you feel inside is so strong, beers and snacks get to your chair while you are watching.
I always recommend the first seats because you can get closer to the Luchadores and if they are cool you can take a pic with them...

Señores este espectáculo es tan divertido si no sabes sobre Luchas libres neta te lo super recomiendo cuando estés visitando la ciudad. La energía que se siente dentro es tan fuerte, ya saben la raza gritándole cosas a los luchadores, las cervezas y las botanas te llegan a tu silla, que mas? haha
Siempre recomiendo los primeros asientos porque puedes acercarte a los Luchadores y si son chidos se tomarán foto contigo ...

To finish and just is you were wondering....

The best way to transport around is the subway, is fast, cheap and fascinating.
While many businessmen and foreigners who live in the city rely on taxis and car services, Mexico City's metro is still the most popular way to get around for the masses.

Para terminar y sólo por si se preguntaban ....

La mejor manera de andar por la ciudad es en el metro ya que es rápido, barato y fascinante.
Mientras que muchos hombres de negocios y extranjeros que viven en la ciudad dependen de los taxis y los servicios de automóviles, metro de la ciudad de México sigue siendo la forma más popular para moverse por las masas.
