“How was the trip?”
“Good”
“Just good?”
“Umm, It was very good”

Are you familiar with this pattern of conversation? Between parents and their children, this vicious circle goes on and on. While parents are eager to find out what their children found out from recent family trips, it oftentimes ends up with a vain effort.

Why on earth do our kids resist to give a clear answer? Not a single thing from our stint abroad inspires our children? Was it just waste of time and money?

I believe, sometimes our kids are reluctant to do so for some reasons, and I also believe that most of the time your different approach can make a difference in their reaction.

It’s simple. You just tell your kids your thought first. Sharing what you think about exotic scenes and beautiful sceneries can encourage your children to tell their stories, too. And, do not forget to write them down. It will be part of your great memory with your kids, which never comes again.
