I used to travel a lot from work and I can understand the points that you mentioned :) I have also forgotten so many things. Once I even forgot my laptop charger. How can you work without a laptop charger? Then I forgot the adapter and they didn't have one in the hotel. I had to buy it at the end... and so on..

It's good to hear that you learned your lessons and now you know how you would change your habits if you would travel a lot again :)
