Vacation trip to kota kinabalu visiting upside down house and to the tip of borneo , lingering junction

in #traveling-in8 years ago (edited)

Borneo , yes i bet all of you have heard of this beautiful island , lets me bring you to beauty of borneo the rainforest .

Turn your world upside down when you visit this unique house in Tamparuli – literally! The ‘Rumah Terbalik’ (which translates to Upside Down House) is the first of its kind in South East Asia and among the five upside-down structures in the world (3 are found in Europe and another in Japan).

The house was opened to the public in early February 2012 and has since been attracting visitors from near and far. The house itself is hard to miss, having been flipped upside down, with its floor facing skyward. Everything inside the house, from furniture to household appliances, hover above your head, as the ceiling is actually the floor. Visitors will notice some distinguishing Sabahan décor and features showcased in this house. In the garage, a car is parked upside down. It might seem disorienting in the first few seconds, but the fascination of it all takes over. This architectural wonder has also been included in the Malaysia Book of Records for being the first of its kind in the nation. Visitors can enjoy a meal or afternoon snack at the Rumah Terbalik Café or pick up a souvenir at the Gift Shop. Guided tours are available.

Latest attraction within the compound of Rumah Terbalik is the 3D Wonders Museum. Experience Sabah in a fun and engaging way thanks to the special art that transforms images into immersive 3D environements. This 3D Wonders Museum is not only the largest 3D art exhibition in East Malaysia but also the first and only that focuses on education the public about the importance of protecting our biodiversity, ecosystem and natural resources.

Before we enter the house hit the gong .
That sabah traditions

Before heading directly to Kundasang Town, we decided to maneuver our route to this small town of Tamparuli in the district of Tuaran. What’s with this place of Tamparuli and what’s all the fuss about this place? To answer your question, this is exactly where the most famous landmark of Tamparuli, the hanging bridge and the first Malaysia ‘Upside Down House’ or ‘Rumah Terbalik’ is located. Just get to know that Tamparuli is also the most convenient stop to town of Kiulu, a popular white water rafting destination for domestic as well as foreigner tourists. Let’s go guys!

Jambatan Tamparuli
Talking about Jambatan Tamparuli, it reminds us of the old Dusun song sang by Justin Lusah way back in the mid of 1970s. Ya, ya, we know that we are not born at that time, yet. It got even popular when it covered by this Akademi Fantasia reality show artist, Marsha Milan Londoh. Anyway, the melody sounds so catchy! The original bridge of Tamparuli has been washed away during the major flood which hit the Tamparuli town in 1999. What we can actually see today is the new hanging bridge which has been relocated together with a low bridge just next to it. It is a very narrow bridge which only let single vehicle to pass through it at one time. Hence, please be tolerate if you are driving around!

This dramatic headland is situated in the northern-most tip of BORNEO, the third largest island in the world, after Greenland and New Guinea. It is located in the Kudat Peninsula, about three and a half hours (or 215 kilometres) drive from Kota Kinabalu City.

Simpang Mengayau means 'lingering junction' as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east ... Enjoy the stunning view. The sunsets and full moons are just beautiful ... The Pulau Kalampunian lighthouse is a reminder of treacherous coastline and past shipwrecks. On the left is the beautiful beach of Pantai Kalampunian.

It's a lovely easy stroll to the flagpole, the Globe and the rocky outcrop that forms the "Tip of Borneo.

Facilities: There is a cafe, souvenir shop and washrooms.
