Downtown Moscow - Novodevichy Convent
Hi Steemians!
Want to show you some pics I took today at a park with a nice pond in the downtown of Moscow. It is easy accessible by public transportation from any corner of of the city, but of course the easiest and fastest way to get here is by subway ( station Frunzenskaya ).
The area is called Novodevichy Convent. In tripadvisor it stays in top-10 must to visit places in Moscow. I did not go into the Monastery, but took a walk outside the walls and enjoyed my time being in the park nearby and taking pics of the surroundings.
Novodevichy Convent, also known as Bogoroditse-Smolensky Monastery (Russian: Новоде́вичий монасты́рь, Богоро́дице-Смоле́нский монасты́рь), is probably the best-known cloister of Moscow. Its name, sometimes translated as the New Maidens' Monastery, was devised to differ from an ancient maidens' convent within the Moscow Kremlin.
Unlike other Moscow cloisters, it has remained virtually intact since the 17th century. In 2004, it was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the UNESCO team evaluation, it was affirmed that the convent is the most outstanding example of the so-called "Moscow Baroque".

Areal view towards the Monastery and the pond. It was actually very crowded, but intentionally I am posting pics with as few people as possible.
Lets just enjoy the nature, architecture and the wild life!
In the background rises the skyline of Moscow City. Many highrises are already built and others are under way.
The main bell tower was recently renovated and now is standing tall in all its grandeur. The site is being visited by many tourists, I saw big groups of German and Italian visitors, but of course the most visitors were from China, as Chinese tourists are number one by numbers since 2012.
If you like the pics and the area, I highly recommend to visit it and FYI it is located in a walking distance from the Main Stadium in Moscow, wherein the FIFA 2018 Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held nearby!!!
@yanipetkov, very nice pictures! Thank you!
Next time will take pics at dusk, it looks even more romantic!
