Jim Thompson House in Bangkok

in #travelfeed5 years ago (edited)

At day 5 from Steem Fest 4 in Bangkok, I аnd @cryptospa visited the Jim Thompson House in the middle of Siam - a museum - housing the art collection of American businessman and architect Jim Thompson.

It’s a museum and art center showcasing Thompson’s collection of Thai silk and Asian antiques.

James H.W. Thompson is an american businessman who dedicated over 30 years of his life to reviving Thai silk in the 1950s.

The museum was planned to consist of a complex combination of six traditional Thai-style houses, constructed of wood, and various old Thai structures.

Remarkably, the entire structure was built without nails.

Around the house, there is a luxuriant garden with tall plants and a small pond.

Smaller houses around the garden are also used as a display of artifacts used at that time.

He built a large collection of historical Buddhist statues and traditional Thai paintings. They are made of wood, cloth, and paper.

One large building is the shop where everyone can buy beautiful Thai silk items. At the second floor is the Jim Thompson café, the first of its kind.

White Cocoons Normally are Japanese, Chinese or Indian breeds. The one month old caterpillar will stop eating any food and starts spinning. It will then take the silk worm approximately 3 days to complete the process. If their threads are disturbed by anything, the silk worm will have to start over again. This single strand of silk that worm forms is about 1 mile long.
Yellow Cocoons

Cocoons may range from white and yellow to grayish. The yellow breed is Thai native silk with its color and irregular knobs it creates a charming golden thread with a unique and univen slob that make Thai silk stands out from the rest.
