Jim Thompson House in Bangkok
At day 5 from Steem Fest 4 in Bangkok, I аnd @cryptospa visited the Jim Thompson House in the middle of Siam - a museum - housing the art collection of American businessman and architect Jim Thompson.
It’s a museum and art center showcasing Thompson’s collection of Thai silk and Asian antiques.
James H.W. Thompson is an american businessman who dedicated over 30 years of his life to reviving Thai silk in the 1950s.
The museum was planned to consist of a complex combination of six traditional Thai-style houses, constructed of wood, and various old Thai structures.
Remarkably, the entire structure was built without nails.
Around the house, there is a luxuriant garden with tall plants and a small pond.
Smaller houses around the garden are also used as a display of artifacts used at that time.
He built a large collection of historical Buddhist statues and traditional Thai paintings. They are made of wood, cloth, and paper.
A series of decorative wall hangings tell stories of the Buddha’s previous and present lives, as well as his spiritual journey towards enlightenment.
White and blue porcelain from China - also included of Thompson collection.
One large building is the shop where everyone can buy beautiful Thai silk items. At the second floor is the Jim Thompson café, the first of its kind.
In front of the large building:
You can saw the part of Silk Cloth Process. Silkworm Cocoon boil in Hot Water in Pot to Draw Raw Silk Thread to Reel.
Cocoons may range from white and yellow to grayish. The yellow breed is Thai native silk with its color and irregular knobs it creates a charming golden thread with a unique and univen slob that make Thai silk stands out from the rest.
At Jim Thompson House, you will be asked to take off your shoes and turn off your cameras. It was unique to walk around the house and listen to the guide's story. If you want to do it too the opening hours are everyday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. The address: 6 Soi Kasemsan 2, Rama 1 Road, Bangkok
