Dudu Lagoon, La Entrada, Dominican Republic
Located near the Northern coast of this beach paradise, Dudu Lagoon is an attraction that many visitors of the Dominican Republic never bother to visit because the main focus when visiting "The D.R." is the wide array of wonderful beaches. It is understandable that the beaches would be popular because they are lovely and plentiful. However, this lagoon is a truly remarkable and inexpensive day trip that really should not be missed.
While it can be a little difficult to reach as it is 25km from the nearest tourist beach, it is completely worth the trip. The entrance fee is a mere 200 pesos (less than 4USD) and the entire grounds are maintained wonderfully. There are two main swimming areas, and one of them is more "extreme."
One word of caution though: Except for the zipline there is virtually no safely restrictions or regulations in place and jumping from a height of more than 10 meters into the water below can quite easily hurt you and it has done precisely that to many past visitors
Swimming isnt the only thing to do here as there are a number of cafes and restaurants on the extensive grounds. There are many walking paths that wind through beautifully maintained gardens where a wide-variety of plant life is on display - some of it, like this tree that continued growing after it fell down, are pretty amazing finds.
All in all, i think that the silly-named park is an unseen treasure of The Dominican Republic and even though we were there during what was considered to be "peak season," there weren't very many people around. This day can be as "extreme" or as relaxing as you want it to be and since it is so incredibly cheap to get in, it is highly recommended that you give this place a look!

I think i have been to this place. The DR is a pretty special little half-island.
