Travelogue Series - 7 , Egypt- 2 - The great Pyramids of Giza

So in the last episode of my Egypt trip . I spoke about my first impression of Egypt. You can catch it here ...

On my first day of "backpacking" around the country i decided to first hit the GizaPyramid Complex in Old Cairo. I was immediately in awe of the Sphinx and its unbelievable architecture and the planning and thought behind it . The sheer scale of it is enough to boggle the human mind. You can read about it in the link above.

But if one thought that, that was it.Boy i wrong ! the Pyramids took it to a whole new level. So i decided to go into my Prince of Persia mode and check out the pyramids.

As you can see going to see the the pyramids can have positive side effects such as learning to ride a horse :P

The thing about Pyramids is that when we see pictures and videos of it on TV it seems most pyramidal structures tend to have steps on it ...which can be well .....kinda looks like it can be climbed. Well its only when u see it upfront u realise that they not steps , They are huge Platforms . And its quite the task to climb one!

Needless to mention , climbing is illegal and prohibited. I was lucky to go there on a day when there was almost no crowd ! DONT TRY THIS . If the cops catch you its a lot of money your gonna have to shell out as bribe to get off !

But the joy of doing something taboo is simply too great to pass on ! and one must do it once in their lives ;)

Photos are illegal inside the Pyramids. But then if you are going there once. MIght as well. Just bribe the Guide/Guard 10EGP. That should do the trick.

The Rest of the pyramid complex. on a deserted day. The place feels as if time itself has come to a standstill. One could be transported back 5000 years ago. To the era of the great Egyptian civilisation.
