10 Pictures in 10 Days (Part 2)

in #travelfeed6 years ago

Did you like the last post about our first 10 days in Tajikistan? Perhaps this next 10 will make you want to come and ride the Pamirs too!!!

06.09.18 We continue climbing more passes in the Pamirs, sometimes there's no water, no tree or shelter, but always other cyclists going the other way.

07.09.18 The views are beautiful and we're starting to understand why everyone speaks highly of the Pamirs. Although the photos are great, the road quality was very bad.

08.09.18 In Jelondy every house has access to hot spring water. We took the opportunity to wash our clothes with hot water for the first time and luckily it did not smell like eggs afterward.

09.09.18 The Pamiri home has a beautiful design for letting in the sunlight. Although other parts of the house are basic, the ceiling must have some importance.

10.09.18 We went up to see some petroglyphs with a local and his son. So kind of them to first take us into their home, then spend an entire morning taking us up the mountain to see the petroglyphs.

11.09.18 This river was damned to generate power for the Murghab province. With the help of experts from Germany, the power will be used in Tajikistan and neighbouring Afghanistan.

12.09.18 This local man was picking some apples and when he saw us he waved us over for apples and tea. We wanted a break anyway so happily accepted his offer.

13.09.18 A river separates Tajikistan and Afghanistan. This part seemed swimmable to cross but we didn't dare in case the military don't like it. Another day perhaps.

14.09.18 A cute little boy happily wearing Matt's cycling glasses. We hope our contact to the people on our travel – especially kids, inspire them to see the world through cycling.

15.09.18 We continue to ponder what life is like on the other side. Perhaps they're thinking the same about what our life is like in Tajikistan.
