Despite its beauty and dynamics, the village has no permanent residents. The houses are for second home, accommodation and services. It is yet another example of a village that had over a hundred inhabitants and began to be desertified almost a century ago.

The beginning of the exodus was with the imposition of the pine culture that ended pastoralism. The final ax was in 1975 when they closed the primary school that had been built with money from locals and emigrants.

Although it has no permanent residents, the village is well maintained. We soon realized this when we arrived and were greeted on the threshing floor by a fountain and a tank that played therapeutic music.

It has a network of walking routes connecting other villages. Great conditions for mountain biking and trail running. It is 2km from the pedestrian trail of Senhora da Piedade.
